October 2018 Womens Ride Month
October Women’s Ride Month is a Specialized initiative to support dealers in organizing bike events and workshops specifically for women.
In support of this Batemans Bay Cycles have held a MTB ride on local trails (including some single track), a Gravel Grind Ride & Road Ride all targeted at women.
HOWEVER at Batemans Bay Cycles women are encouraged and supported in their bike riding & interest in bikes EVERYDAY, whether it be in a professional capacity or just cruising around the trails & cycle paths.
Let’s take a closer look.
Historically the majority of bike stores in the industry are “male dominated and driven.” What makes Batemans Bay Cycles different from other bike stores are the female owner/operators Kate Huxley and Vicki Moorhead. Both have a vast knowledge base on everything bike related and varied background, covering many years, in the bike industry.
Both Vicki & Kate “walk the walk and talk the talk” & can be seen riding MTB & Gravel trails, on the Road or Fatbiking in the snow or on local beaches. It’s not just their business it’s their passion.
Want a bike fit, a service, a bike build, repair or just some bike related information then Kate a qualified Body Geometry Fit Specialist, workshop manager & top notch mechanic is the go to person.
Head honcho in customer service & advice on anything bike related is Vicki who is currently in training (with Kate) for a 5 day NZ Rotorua MTB Tour, Leah Hearne (also a Store Ambassador) who is currently juggling her HSC studies and competing as part of the State Junior Elite BMX Squad and Lesley O’Brien who is a roadie from way back and in training for a 6 day Snowgum to Seaweed MTB Tour in Victoria.
Another female store Specialized ambassador is Maggie Welfare who has just competed in the National Capital Tour (3rd in GC) and wore green & gold at the Worlds Tri Championships on the Gold Coast.
There are males in the store and male store ambassadors however being Women’s Ride Month…sorry boys the women are taking centre stage.
Kate and Vicki’s enthusiasm for getting women and children of all ages and abilities onto bikes is a reflection of their primary philosophy & drives their business. If you don’t believe me come visit Batemans Bay Cycles your local Specialized Dealer where its Womens Ride Month every month of the year.
